Free Cooling

Aqua’s range of free cooling water chillers reduces electrical usage by utilising low ambient air temperatures to cool the return water whenever possible. The chillers have an inbuilt electronic controller which modulates a three way valve in the water return line. When the ambient air temperature drops below that of the return water it is diverted through a free cooling coil and automatically reduces the load on the refrigeration system, resulting in partial or total free cooling.

We offer free cooling in two formats – either integrated into a chiller unit or as a ‘bolt on’ free cooler. With the former, the option is factory fitted and all components are integrally mounted within the chiller unit. Alternatively, a bolt on free cooler enables the free cooling principle to be retro fitted to an existing unit/system (whether it be air or water cooled). Once a unit/system is upgraded by a bolt on free cooler it will achieve all the associated advantages of free cooling and is an excellent option for clients wishing to reap the benefits of free cooling without investing in any replacement equipment.

Energy saving – with current concerns over rising energy costs and carbon emission levels, we have developed a special range of products designed to maximise energy efficiency. The units either use the ambient air to reduce the energy required to operate the system (free cooling) or they reclaim energy from the refrigeration system (heat recovery). We work closely alongside the Carbon Trust and a number of our clients have already benefited from their interest free Energy-Efficiency Loan scheme.
