What Is The Process?

Pasteurisation, the process and why cooling is required.

  1. Normally a two stage operation with a low and high phase through a two stage heat exchanger
  2. The heat exchanger has 6 ports (3 inlets and 3 outlets). 1 inlet and outlet are used for the product to flow through, another is used for ambient water to flow through to cool the product from as high as 95°C to above the ambient cooled water temperature
  3. The third inlet and outlet has chilled water flowing as low as -2C to cool the product to its required end temperature
  4. The regeneration or reclaim area uses the heated pasteurised material to heat the incoming material so to reclaim the waste energy
  5. To create a product such an Ice-Cream, yoghurt or drinks

Why Is Cooling Required?

  1. Ambient water temperature to cool product from high to medium temperature
  2. Chilled water to cool to low end temperature
