About Low GWP Chiller Hire
The chillers within our rental fleet are Aqua Pro units and operate on low GWP refrigerant, as standard (from 30kW upwards). They utilise R454B which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 466. This is around 78% lower than refrigerants typically used in process applications, like R410A.

The F-Gas Regulation of 2014 was a real turning point for the industry, with the aim of reducing EU F-Gas emissions by two thirds by 2030. It signalled a phase-down of hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants (HFCs), or greenhouse gases, which have very high GWP ratings.
As a result, alternative, more sustainable refrigerants – like R454B – have become increasingly popular as companies strive to stay F-Gas compliant and keep their costs down as much as possible.
From January 2020 chillers were no longer able to operate on refrigerants with a GWP higher than 2500. From 1st January 2030, these refrigerants will no longer be permitted for service & maintenance purposes. For example, they won’t be able to be recovered, reclaimed and/or recycled.

Installation
Agreed with you beforehand. All our engineers carry full PPE and will manage work according to agreed RAMS and specific site H&S conditions. Where required, we provide F-Gas and Gas Safe accredited engineers.

As the maintenance partner for a leading rice processor, Aqua were asked to propose a cooling system upgrade to guarantee reliability and reduced operating costs.
Aqua supplied a unit from our Aqua Pro chiller range. The units are specifically designed for the process industry, operating on R454B, a sustainable, low GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerant. The legacy chiller ran on R410A, so this gave the client a quick reduction in running costs as well as minimising their carbon impact. The GWP of R454B is 78% lower than R410A.
