The Client –
Manufacturing client, based in the North West of England
The Challenge –
Keeping facility operational during large scale expansion project
The Solution –
Temporary cooling system
When a major manufacturing facility in the North West of England embarked on an ambitious expansion project, maintaining business continuity was a top priority. With operations running around the clock, downtime wasn’t an option. They needed a temporary cooling solution that would be robust and reliable, and one that could be seamlessly installed without disrupting their day to day business.
Working through one of our trusted trade customer partnerships, our Hire team delivered a custom designed cooling package on a long term hire basis.
Situation
The end client was in the midst of expanding their existing manufacturing facilities to support their growth strategy. However, their existing production lines had to remain live throughout the construction period. Any interruption would result in substantial losses and impact business performance.
Because of the timeline of the construction project, the temporary cooling system needed to be suitably phased to support both current operations and evolving site conditions as the project
progressed.
Solution
Working closely with both the end client and our trade partner, we designed and deployed a turnkey, modular cooling solution which was able to be installed in two phases.
The 4.5MW system comprised:
• 6 x Aqua Pro hire chillers
• Flexible pipework – connecting to existing 16” header
• Cabling & power distribution
• All ancillaries
• System flushing, filling & commissioning
Our Aqua Pro hire chillers are designed specifically for industrial process applications. They operate on low GWP refrigerant and are highly energy efficient. Their robust design and unique, cleanable, process evaporator makes them ideal for manufacturing applications.
Our Hire team provided a fully managed service, handling everything from initial site visit and specification through to final commissioning.
Results
“For this particular manufacturer it wasn’t just about cooling – we also needed to deliver business continuity by aligning the install with the overall project plan” explains Aqua’s Will Fernley who led the hire installation.
“We needed to manage the arrival and installation of the hire kit against the backdrop of a constantly evolving site. It’s a pretty large scale system and needed careful planning at every point. That said, our install teams love a challenge, and I guess that’s why we’re known in the industry as the temperature control people!”
