Innovative design combined with ultra-robust construction, including a stainless steel evaporator, pump, tank and pipework, delivers a highly durable, reliable and fully packaged chiller solution.
Featuring optimised free cooling, our systems maximise ambient conditions to reduce mechanical cooling demand, reducing
energy usage by over 80%.
Durability
All chiller main components are manufactured in stainless steel for zero risk of contamination in your process. Ultra-strength fully welded frame and laser welded evaporators and tanks for perfect joins, with leak resistant 3D bended copper tubes.
Sustainability
All units operate on low GWP R32 refrigerant with zero ODP, an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional refrigerants that can be easily reused and recycled. Units over 10kW have EC fans with electronic expansion valve/s and stretched air guide ducts. Optimised free cooling available from 20kW.
Reliability
Chillers with multiple compressors come with independent refrigeration circuits to ensure chiller performance can be sustained in the event of compressor maintenance. In-built remote monitoring enables 24/7 performance tracking and fault notification. Get ahead of problems and reduce downtime.
The benefits of integrated free cooling
A cooling system incorporating free cooling will deliver impressive year on year cost savings and achieve fast payback. Energy usage and maintenance bills will be less, your chiller will last longer, and you will reduce the overall environmental impact of your business.
Our Advance-Free chillers have an in-built free cooling coil, meaning the free cooling is completely integrated into the unit.
With an Aqua Advance-Free Chiller, free cooling is achievable at higher ambient temperatures than with any other chiller brand on the market. Cooling capacity ranges from 1kW to 1MW+ and our units work with process fluid temperatures from -35°C to +30°C.
How Does Free Cooling Work?
The benefits of Free Cooling are significant. By utilising natural air instead of energy-intensive traditional cooling methods, your business can achieve substantial energy savings.

How does an integrated free cooling chiller work?
Free cooling is the principle of using ambient air temperatures to cool return water whenever possible, rather than using mechanical refrigeration. An Aqua Advance-Free chiller unit has an in-built free cooling coil, enabling it to intelligently sense the temperature of both the return fluid and the ambient air.
When the ambient temperature is lower than that of the return water temperature, a 3-way valve controller diverts the process return water to the free cooling coil. The coil exchanges the heat in the water to the cooler ambient air, cooling the fluid. The only mechanical action needed to achieve this is that of the fans which pull the air across the coil. In using just fans – rather than energy-hungry components such as a compressor – energy usage is drastically reduced. Plus, if you decrease the amount of time mechanical components are being used, you will extend their life span and keep maintenance costs to a minimum.
The ambient air temperature determines whether partial or full free cooling is achievable. When you consider the temperatures of a typical UK winter, you soon see how the energy and associated savings add up.
7 year extended warranty
Every Aqua Advance-Free chiller comes with our market leading 7-year warranty when supplied with a Planned Preventative Maintenance agreement. This gives you complete peace of mind with fixed maintenance costs and safeguards the lifespan of your chiller, saving you further over the longer term.
24/7 support
At Aqua we are with you every step of the way. Once we have commissioned, designed and installed your equipment, we provide always-on maintenance support with nationwide Aqua breakdown cover with emergency repair.
From couriering genuine replacement spare parts to your site and making emergency visits through the night, you can always rely on us to be there when you need us.
Design flexibility
An Aqua Advance-Free chiller is highly configurable and can be fully customised for the intricacies of your specific process requirements. For example, we can add ATEX rated Duplex stainless steel pumps if you’re operating within a hazardous environment.
We also have in-house design and mechanical services teams, who can take your requirement from conceptual design stage right through to installation and commissioning.
Always in stock, available the next day.
Our Aqua Advance-Free chillers are available from stock, held in our Hampshire warehouse facility, meaning we can offer next day, UK wide delivery. We also have process chillers available within our rental fleet, so if the exact model you require isn’t available for some reason, we can still get your process up and running whilst you await delivery of your permanent unit.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a free cooling chiller and how does it save money?
A free cooling chiller has an integrated free cooling coil that can use cold ambient air to cool the process fluid without running the refrigeration compressors. In the UK climate this means you can use free cooling for a significant portion of the year and dramatically reduce energy costs compared to a standard chiller.
How much energy can a free cooling chiller save?
The savings depend on your process temperature setpoint and your location but in the UK a well-specified optimised free cooling chiller can reduce cooling energy consumption by 80+% or more compared to a conventional chiller. Aqua can model your expected savings during the design stage.
At what temperature does free cooling stop working?
In a nutshell, no it doesn’t. Infact, because the mechanical parts run less, there will actually be less wear on the refrigeration components over time.
Does a free cooling chiller need more maintenance than a standard chiller?
Absolutely. Aqua offers flexible short, medium and long-term hire agreements. Whether you need air conditioning for a few weeks during a heatwave or a few years to support with a long term project, we can tailor the agreement to suit you.
Can free cooling be retrofitted to an existing system?
In many cases a separate dry cooler or adiabatic cooler can be added to an existing chiller installation to achieve partial free cooling. Aqua’s engineers can assess your current system and advise on the best approach to introduce free cooling cost-effectively.

Great customer support!Posted on Google Robert BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Called Aqua cooling out @ 4 pm Engineer Alan arrived at 7pm repaired the fault that was preventing the fridge units running on our 1000 tonne onion store. Really appreciated the excellent service. thankyou from E C Brown & SonsPosted on Google Mark CooperTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After working with Aqua Cooling over the past couple of weeks, I cannot recommend them enough. Connor has been the reliable engineer on site every day, nothing is too much trouble for him. Simon and Joe spent time with us as well for some of the jobs that required the extra hands. The whole job has gone smoothly with great communication from the engineers and Olivia (an absolute gem) in the office.Posted on Google Oliver StarrTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Zeus Hydratech MD, Oliver Starr invited the Aqua Cooling team to collaborate with them to support one of the largest steel processing plants in the UK. The customers’ existing chiller units (fitted to large CNC equipment was old which meant parts and technical support was no longer available) Aqua Cooling were able to support us directly with the specification of suitable chillers from their range. I have been very impressed with their knowledge and service delivering such a large and technical order. Thanks to all at Aqua on behalf of Zeus Hydratech Limited. What more can you ask for? Thank you! On behalf of Turbex LtdPosted on Google Julie PinhorneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very good service. we are really pleased with the equipment on loan it looks nearly brand new. I had an issue at first with one of the machines not turning on, the customer service member of staff was immediately on the phone talking us through the issue which we resolved over the phone. I am Happy to use this company again. Reliable, friendly helpful staff.Posted on Google Robin HewittTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a short term air-con need and Aqua were great. They responded to my enquiry almost immediately, and the hire was sorted within the hour. Even better, they delivered the units next day (and we're not local!) Aqua also extended my hire period with no dramas at all. Overall, truly excellent service
