He’s a qualified mechanical engineer with a background in creating & designing commodities, from electrical connectors through to military mobile phones and plastic furniture for domestic fridges. Rumour has it, Ben even has his own design patent!
His passion for design is surpassed only by his love for the world of OEM. As our OEM Specialist, Ben spends his time trying to make life easier for his customers, so that they can focus on their own clients.
“OEM customers are the best” explains Ben. “They have different needs to end user or trade customers and, for me, that’s where it’s at! They need focus, regular contact, support, and reassurance that they can get the answers they need when they need them. With OEMs it’s all about building long- term relationships and working collaboratively together.”
Ben has lived on the South Coast for over 20 years which fits well with his love of the outdoors. When he has down-time he enjoys water sports and either running or biking across the South Downs. He also takes part in triathlons, although he does admit they “are more fun when they’re over with the main benefit being that I can eat whatever I want at the end!”
So, what does Ben love most about his OEM role?
“It’s a great blend of having the right solution, competitively priced along with the opportunity to support customers at all stages of their project. No one job is the same and I get a real sense of reward from solving someone’s temperature control challenges. I’m also fortunate that I get to work across such a range of industries, including food & beverage, pharmaceutical, plastics and machine tooling.”
“I also enjoy listening. People tell me I’m a great listener. I enjoy asking questions, understanding what needs to be done and getting on with it to achieve a resolution sooner rather than later. Listening and attention to detail are important skills for my role, getting to the crux of a customer’s issue is so important in deciding what’s going to be the best solution for them.”
