Adiabatic Retrofit

Adiabatic Retrofit

A low cost, easy fit upgrade that keeps your cooling equipment operating, even in a heatwave.

About Adiabatic Retrofit

Aqua’s innovative adiabatic retrofit technology ensures your cooling equipment operates efficiently and effectively, even in a heatwave. It can be added to any existing equipment that has a large external heat rejection system. This includes chillers, air blast coolers, condensing sets, cold storage applications, and large VRV/VRF air conditioning systems.

When things heat up, the retrofit system simply reduces the ambient air temperature reaching your cooling equipment by as much as 15°C. This keeps the equipment running as it was originally designed to and avoids business interruption, product/produce loss and impacted staff & customers.

How Does Adiabatic Retrofit Work?

Adiabatic spray bars are attached to the frame around the coil of your existing equipment. When temperatures rise, a small amount of mains water is sprayed into the oncoming air. This quickly reduces the ambient air temperature reaching your cooling equipment by as much as 15°C. This allows it to operate as it was originally designed to and helps it to manage the higher load that higher temperatures create. The pump system keeps water usage to a minimum by ensuring the exact amount of spray is delivered to the air flow around the coil. The adiabatic retrofit can be integrated with existing equipment controls so that it only operates during periods of high ambient temperatures.

All mains water passes through an industrial grade UV filter and there is an automatic drain & flush to keep the water system clean and free from bacterial growth.

An adiabatic retrofit system can be fitted in as little as two days and the work can be carried out on site, with your existing equipment in situ. It uses standard mains power and there’s no downtime involved during the installation, so business can continue as normal.

Why Choose an Adiabatic Retrofit from Aqua?

Equipment that has worked seamlessly suddenly starts to fail as temperatures rise, causing downtime, business interruption, product or produce loss, impacted staff and ultimately, an impact on the company’s bottom line. The underlying problem is that older equipment was designed for yesterday’s climate and it just isn’t capable of coping with the heatwaves of today.

With meteorologists predicting that the hotter summer temperatures are here to stay, Aqua’s adiabatic retrofit solution is a cost-effective way to future proof your business, ensuring you avoid costly downtime and unnecessarily investment. You’ll also protect the lifespan of your existing cooling equipment as it won’t be under such high demand. Adding adiabatic capability costs just a fraction of what it would to replace your existing equipment with a larger capacity version and it’s suitable for a vast range of applications.

Adiabatic Retrofit Cools Things Down For Injection Moulder

As a global plastic component manufacturer, minimising downtime and operating costs is key. When our client found their process struggling to keep temperature during the warmer months, Aqua upgraded their existing equipment to include a retrofit adiabatic and free cooling operation.
