With cooling capacity from 14kW to 1MW and the ability to operate down to -30°C, they’re versatile units, suitable for a range of requirements. With high thermal conductivity and good heat transfer properties, propane is an effective refrigerant for low, medium, and high temperature applications.

R290 is a natural refrigerant, with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of < 3 and is widely recognised as an ideal replacement to popular hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) like R410A.
The European F-gas directive of 2014 signalled the beginning of the phase down of HFCs, or greenhouse gases as they’re more commonly known. Whilst some refrigerants are prohibited, the use of others has been significantly phased down. Previously popular refrigerants are now difficult to source and expensive to purchase, but with R290 these issues disappear.
R290 is currently 50% cheaper per kg than R410A but, as HFCs get closer to phase out, this cost difference will only increase. In addition, R290 has an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of 0, is non-toxic and odourless. It’s also a pure refrigerant, so there’s no glide to account for, giving consistent, stable operating temperatures.
